The Oncology Foundation of Maryland/DC (OFMDC) is pleased to offer an Interactive Online Session designed for cancer patients and their families. This Zoom event is titled COVID-19 and the Cancer Patient: What you and your family need to know. Featured presenters are Peter Graze, MD and Carol Tweed, MD, both with Anne Arundel Medical Center (AAMC) Oncology, a part of Luminis Health, a regional health system based in Annapolis, Maryland. Both physicians are active members of the Maryland/DC Society of Clinical Oncology (MDCSCO). MDCSCO launched OFMDC and provides ongoing support and serves in an advisory role.
Founded in 2009, the Oncology Foundation of Maryland/DC, offers public education Cancer Forums, typically held as live events, free and open to the public. Events focus on providing reliable information on the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cancer for cancer patients and their families. The Oncology Foundation Board consists of community volunteers, all of whom have been touched by cancer personally through their own illness or the illness of family members.
Much has been said in the media about the need for cancer patients with compromised immune systems to take special precautions. The Internet is filled with information about self-protection and not all of it is reliable. As a public service, the Foundation, is using Zoom as way to reach cancer patients and their families to provide information they can trust from highly-regarded practicing oncologists. Since this event is being offered via the Internet there are no geographic limitations for attendees.
